Our process starts with our dads attending an orientation session that will disclose all the information that a participant needs to know about our program. After attending orientation, if a participant decides the program is right for them, we will ask them to begin and complete our surveys. Thereafter, participants will be paired with a coordinator and coach that will help them begin the journey from fatherhood to a great dad.

#1: Discover Fatherhood

An initial focus for participants is responsible fatherhood. Unfortunately, when one steps into fatherhood there’s no handbook to help us tackle the unanticipated challenges that parenting is bound to encounter throughout the life of a child. Most commonly amongst men is the absence of healthy role models during their childhood that exhibit how to be a great dad. Such shortages in fatherhood typically leads to fathers feeling ill-equipped or inadequate to be a father. As a result, this can sometimes lead fathers idle; choosing to be absent or inactive in their children’s lives. Even more increasing the possibility of failing in their role.

Our commitment is to equip dads with the tools necessary to develop a loving, trusting, and lasting relationship with their children. To equip our dads, we us an evidence-based curriculum titled “24/7 Dad.” This material is designed to fill the vacuum that exists for our dads with information ranging from “What it Means to be a Man” and “Showing and Handling Feelings” to “Dads and Work.” Outfitted with this newfound information our hope is that a now confident father chooses to reintegrate themselves into their children’s lives and earn their trust as a responsible dad.

#2: Healthy Relationships

The next area of focus is healthy relationships. It’s difficult to be involved your child’s life when the relationship with your child’s mother is adversarial at best. We will help you develop a better relationship with your children’s mother with the aid of the “Within My Reach” program. We teach healthy relationship skills that help build a relationship with your children’s mother so you can parent as a united team. When parents are united in parenting, even if they are no longer together, the child avoids the pitfall to be used as a pawn by either parent to hurt each other. No matter what condition your relationship is in, you can learn skills and find the determination to make life sweeter.

#3: Employment Coaching

Our final area of focus is economic stability. A father who has no means to provide for their children is less likely to want to be around. With specialized coaching and services, our program will provide fathers with individualized help to gain stable employment. Our partnerships with organizations will leverage fathers with robust job building skills and employment services that connect job seekers to work related training and education.

We also integrate the “Money Smarts” program which teaches, the value of money, how to set up a bank account, how to establish credit, how to create and follow a budget, as well as how to build a financial future.

When a father is economically stable it is much easier for them to provide for their child and thereby be more involved in their children’s lives. Not only will you flourish economically, but personally experience how to set yourself up to succeed in your field of interest. In the end, you will have received guidance to help develop an ongoing life plan to help prevent drifting and get the employment participant’s desire.
